Gran Reserva Petit Verdot 2017 (Callejon del Crimen)

Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Callejon del Crimen is the Argentine winery of the Vinos de la Luz family-run group that owns cellars and estates in some of the most important wine regions in the world: in the Uco Valley in Argentina, along the Ribera del Duero in Spain, and in Montalcino in Italy. The Callejon del Crimen winery is located precisely at the foot of Tupungato hill, in the prestigious wine region of Mendoza. Here wines of exceptional quality are produced with selected grapes from different areas of the Uco Valley, and particular attention to production details, using innovative oenological instruments. The Petit Verdot grapes are selected and harvested manually from the Vista Flores vineyards, located at an altitude of over 1000 meters above sea level. Here the soils are sandy loam with alluvial sediments, and the plants are about 25 years old. After a 20-day fermentation at a controlled temperature, the finished wine is refined for 12 months in French oak barrels. The Petit Verdot Gran Reserva has an intense color with dark cherry tones. On the nose, it reveals an ample bouquet with notes of ripe dark fruit, herbs, and chocolate, and a touch of minerality. On the palate, it is intense and full, complex and structured with round and well-integrated tannins. The finish is long with mineral references. It is a full-bodied wine that goes well with pasta with succulent meat sauces, or grilled meats.
