Rapture Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 (Michael David Winery)

Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Founded in 1984, the Michael David Winery is located in Lodi, where it has had its roots since 1850. The founders, in fact, are the brothers Michael and David Phillips, the fifth generation of a family of grape growers. The company today produces very popular wines from grapes grown in its 80 hectares of certified organic vineyards, and sourcing other grapes from local winegrowers. Rapture is the top Cabernet of this Lodi winery and is produced in limited quantities and only in exceptional years, with small additions of Petite Sirah. The grapes are harvested from Michael Phillips' own vineyard, and after fermentation, the wine is aged in French oak barrels. The wine has an intense color with deep ruby tones. The nose reveals notes of blackberries, plums and wild berries, figs, and coffee, with some hints of sweet spices and cedar. On the palate, it is full-bodied and juicy, round and concentrated with a long and pleasant finish reminiscent of vanilla notes. It is the classic wine for red meat. It goes well with grilled steak, but can also be a delicious companion for a wild boar stew.
