Yattarna Bin 144 Chardonnay 2020 (Penfolds)

Cellar for up to 20 years. No need to decant before serving. This is one of Australia’s greatest Chardonnays, sourced from premium vineyards in Tasmania, Tumbarumba and the Adelaide Hills. Yattarna opens with a gorgeous bouquet of stone and citrus fruits, underscored by notes of toasted almonds, nougat and gunsmoke. It will comfortably age in a cellar for the next two decades, and possibly longer. Penfolds has been Australia’s largest and best-renowned winery since 1907, but its origin goes back even further. Yattarna is the perfect starting point for exploring Penfolds’ premium range of wines. It is remarkably full and round in the body, with a rich, dessert-like mouthfeel. The wine spent 9 months in French oak barriques. Layers of grapefruit, stone fruit, marzipan and lime zest interweave on the palate, with a gloss of wet stone minerality. It contains laser-focused acidity and superbly concentrated fruit flavours. Yattarna is the benchmark for Australian Chardonnay and should be paired with roasted chicken, fine cheese or fish.
