Legitimo 2020 (Conceito)

Cellar for up to 15 years. Decant for up to an hour before serving. Legítimo is a classic Douro red wine, light in colour, but bursting at the seams with blackcurrant, cherry, blackberry and leather scents. It is a field blend of traditional Portuguese grape varieties, originating from 50-year-old vines in Quinta Vale de Cavalos. Conceito Winery blends centuries of tradition with the bold new Portuguese style - it is spearheaded żeby Rita Ferreira Marques, an expert oenologist and Douro Valley native. Over the years, the winery’s incredible range has grown to include sparkling white wines and fortified reds, alongside intriguingly fresh red wines such as Legítimo. It is the perfect winery to start exploring Northern Portugal with. It is full-bodied and wonderfully dry in the mouth, exhibiting flavours of dark forest fruits, rich baking spice and an earthy, forest-floor undertone. It balances roundness and freshness perfectly, for an easy-drinking experience. Legítimo was created as a witty counterpoint to Conceito’s Bastardo wine, offering a similarly dense and spicy character, but this time using Portuguese grapes. We highly recommend tasting Bastardo and Legítimo together. You can pair this wine with a wide variety of food, from grilled meats to tomato-based pasta dishes.
